Multicamera System for Automatic Positioning of Objects in Game Sports
Creators
Description
Taking into account the rapid evolution of multimedia platforms, as part of a M.Sc. Dissertation in the Electrical and Computer Engineering domain, this research project created an opportunity for a compelling quantity of technological resources and applications to be conveyed into sports. The researcher considers that the use of similar technologies can only be achieved with more flexible and non-invasive solutions and calls attention to the need for research in the application of computer vision techniques. The research focuses on the location of a ball in a 3D space field, with particular application on indoor team sports. Several techniques of camera calibration and 3D reconstruction methods were studied and tested, in order to propose an approach that uses a limited number of conventional cameras.
